GAA Coaching Workshop 11/11/2017

Friday Nov. 10th saw four Setanta Berlin GAA coaches headed to Munich to participate the next day in a 'GAA Coaching Foundation' course, hosted by Munich Colmcilles GAA and supported by German GAA / Deutscher Bund Gälischer Sportarten. Augsburg, Berlin, Hamburg and hosts Munich were all represented, indicative of the growth of GAA interest regionally and the determination for German GAA clubs to develop self-sufficiency in coaching.

Tutor Liam O'Reilly of Offaly GAA, responsible for games development in the Leinster county, guided participants through the day of practical and planning activities required to give a solid basis for GAA coaches working with young players.

We're very proud of our coaches Lauritz Bonnen, Hugh Bert Kavanagh, Sinead Kavanagh and Dáire Murray who gave generously of their weekend to add extra experience and coaching capacity to their club.

Dáire Murray: "It was a great day of learning new coaching skills as well as an opportunity to meet fellow coaches from all over Germany, and we're looking forward to future encounters on pitches around the country. We're eager to put forward all we learned from Liam into practice with the Setanta kids at the weekend and in the future".

Lauritz Bonnen: "It was a great experience for all clubs attending and I can only recommend it for anyone looking to participate as a coaching in our club. Further more we now have another contact in the GAA where, for example, I will hopefully be coaching a hurling/football summer camp via my coaching certification I earned in Munich today. I appreciate the opportunity given to me by Setanta Berlin GAA and will hopefully be applying the skills learned in our Sunday training as well as attending further workshops. Setanta Abú!".

Many thanks to all those involved in organizing and contributing to the course delivery including Leinster G.A.A.Gaelic Games EuropeMunich Colmcilles GAAand German GAA / Deutscher Bund Gälischer Sportarten... and of course our AMAZING coaches!
