Annis Entdeckungen Discovers Hurling with Setanta Berlin GAA

RBB TV presenter Anni Dunkelmann  visited Setanta recently to discover, and learn how to play, the ancient Irish sport of hurling. Anni’s show “Anni’s Entdeckungen” (Anni’s Discoveries) is a weekly feature of the Saturday evening news programme Tageschau, specifically for the Berlin / Brandenburg region. The show involves Anni discovering interesting, unusual, quirky places and activities in Berlin. Like Hurling…

Anni was introduced to the sport by Setanta’s Club Development Officer, Marc, who explained the ins and outs of the game and equipped her with hurl, helmet and Setanta colours. Then it was time to meet the Setanta crew and join in a regular training session under coach Brian Ahern, before finishing off with a game of hurling with the Setanta camógs and hurlers.

Anni held her own in the game, and everyone agreed that she is indeed a fast learner and showed great potential as a camógie player. But then again, she had just learned from and with the best.

RBB’s Tageschau is watched by 250K people in the region every evening, which will obviously mean excellent exposure for the club. Watch this space for broadcast date…

It’s always good to set goals. Especially when there’s a telly crew around.
